I haven’t been well this week, so I’ve been working at home and I haven’t been out anywhere in the evenings or weekends – which has meant my evenings and weekends have been spent simming (inbetween sleeping)… and that means another Daye update, a mere week after the last one! Enjoy as we go back and forth between the future, the present and island living…
The Dayes are back again in Dayes of Plenty – whereby our supernatural mania goes a bit crazy.
The Knights are children at the moment so watch this space for them.
The Dayes are back in a post that seems quite short but represents a LONG time of playing: Six degrees of sim frustration. Eh. The Knights’ next gen have been born and I’m hoping to update both again by the end of the month.
I am very aware of the irony of an ultra-speedy legacy being the least frequently updated thing ever, but the Knights are back in 6. It’s hip to be square. Gen 7 are children now, so you may see them this side of Christmas.
The Dayes are also back, in Ten’s Nervous Headache.
Also, for those interested the the research side of things, I’ve submitted a paper about Simblr that will hopefully come out next year, am working on one about Electronic Arts which I’m intending to submit once TS4 is out and I have a couple more planned to work on over the next few months. Will keep you posted.
So the Gen 10 heir has taken over and the Dayes are off back to uni in Starter for Ten. I have pretty much enough for another post soon as well…
…now to see if I can get through more than an hour of the Knights…
The time has come for another heir to take on the somewhat dubious honour of holding the reins of the Daye family. So have a read of the new update, Sometimes you win and vote in the poll at the end!
Rejoice! After all the glitching and crashing in the world, I’ve finally managed to play through the stripe generation of the Knights (so much for ultra-speedy) in 4. Knight Lines (don’t do it). As if that wasn’t enough, Taken 60. Almost there is also up. Not only that, but the Dayes are back in Things you do when you’re losing the will. Have at them!
Chapter 53: Bunker is up, and I’m setting chapter 54 to auto-publish on Sunday… I like this being ahead of myself thing.
Well, Bathory may have turned her back on me, but I haven’t forgotten her. After my game has started functioning again (ish, the poor Knights), the Dayes are back in Uni Dayes. Did any of them pass any exams?
Well, by now I should have more updates. But that would be without taking into account my broken game. I’ve tried about eight times to play the Knights but they just crash. The Dayes are sort of working but glitching like mad and the game isn’t responding very well to me giving them actions. I managed to shoot two Taken chapters and my current banner header (Lab Coat Knight as the Sixth Doctor and Julie Populous as Peri) but the game crashed to desktop with both of those too. It’s been a while since I did a full-on check of CC and mods and I probably need to strip out some CC and check everything is A-OK but seeing as there’s a new EP on the way, there is really no point in doing any of that until it arrives. I hate how time-consuming the game is – like many of you I spend far more time fixing the game (and loading and saving) than playing, which isn’t exactly much fun, especially when my playing time is limited. So I expect to buy the EP late June or so and I have time off early July when I’ll be mostly packing – which may mean I will actually find updating my game somewhat refreshing as a change from that. So don’t expect Dayes or Knights until ll that’s sorted, I’m afraid. I suspect I will have to reduce the household size with the Knights at least as they have a LOT of kids and pets this gen.
In the meantime, there’s a new Taken chapter up: 51. Lockdown and I have shots ready for the following chapter, so I hope that can keep you going for now.
Hopefully the first of two short Taken chapters this week, 49. Forgetting and Remembering. Shots are done for Chapter 50 so should be with you soon.
Waiting for mods to get updated so I can install University and 70s/80s/90s and then play Kingsfield / Dayes / Knights. Hooray for Easter coming up soon and a few days off work for bank holidays…
I know it’s been a while. My job has been incredibly full-on of late – and continues to be so – and in addition to that, not only was I directing a play, but I had to stand in for one of the actors at the last minute. I’ve also been at a conference one weekend and trying to find time to see friends and family and keep up with the creative writing course I’m doing. I’m very tired, as you can probably tell! My computer’s also being a bit iffy with the game as often is the case… and I will get Seasons eventually but I don’t have it yet.
Anyway, I’m missing all your blogs and my own sims, although I have been keeping my hand in with Boolprop’s Next Top Model, and I’ve managed to get a new Dayes of Our Lives chapter up: Supernatural High. The Knights will be next, then Taken. Kingsfield will be back in time for Christmas I think.
Time to meet someone new… and the plot thickens in 45. Gone.
The Dayes are back with some new babies, and an accident… Don’t Have a Cowplant, Man.
I’m kind of ashamed about how long this took, but as I don’t get much time to sim, when I do, I’d rather play the game than stage shots. Which is also why the Dayes are a good two-three chapters ahead in play than they are in the blog… so I’ll hopefully update them this weekend too.
Anyway, new Taken Chapter is up: 44. A Day in the Life and I have the shots for the next one so am planning to publish that next weekend. I do want to get ahead of myself with it a bit if I can, but I’m directing another play so until that’s over (end of October) I can’t make promises, especially as the students are back this week and work’s in a crazy phase for a couple of weeks.
Kingsfield is accidentally on hiatus, I guess. I just haven’t had much time/motivation to play the hood lately as the Dayes have been getting all supernatural. It’ll definitely be back, but expecting an update before November would be too much, I think. As for the Knights, their next gen are toddlers in game, so we’re getting there – the Dayes are just being more fun right now.
I know I haven’t been reading or commenting much either… for the same reasons I’ve not been updating much. By November I hope to be back on a more even keel for a little while – at least until the next play gets started…
Sorry this took a while – I’ve had the shots for ages (and have the shots for most of the next chapter too) but the effort of doing a full blog post has been a bit daunting especially as I’ve had lots of other things on. Anyway – a chapter in which I go somewhat mental: A kind of madness. In a sort of opposite turn of events, I have written the next five (FIVE) chapters of Taken but don’t have any images for them yet. Sorry. I’ll get round to it soon. I’m in a bad mood with Kingsfield because my game crashed moments before a save prompt after a bunch of building ><. The Knights are also having a lot of issues, although I've managed to at least birth their next generation. So everything is on the way… at some point.
I'm just starting the second phase of my sims research, by the way, so some of you will be hearing from me about that fairly soon.
It’s been a lot longer than I anticipated, but they’re back in Starlight Express and I’ve been playing them a lot so expect a new chapter sooner rather than later.
Not sure when the other blogs will update as I haven’t touched any of their saves for a while. But I hope to get onto Taken and Kingsfield again soon – I’m just having too much fun with the Dayes right now…
Let’s face it, when EA introduced the age sliders and made it so that the minimum life span was no longer 25 days, it was only a matter of time before I took up that challenge. So the Knights are back, with all the sliders turned to the left (13 day lifespan, baby) and they’re aiming to go from Wii to the prettiest sim they can get in 10 generations. And the theme this time is pattern. Their new blog is called Knights in Bright Pattern and you can read the intro post, 1. Virginia Plain here. Second gen soon (cos I played ahead…)
Thanks to everyone who’s filled in the survey I posted yesterday so far – if you haven’t done so yet then please do. I’ll leave it up until late next week.
As you probably know, in my other life I’m a university lecturer. One of my research interests is how online communities use different web platforms and I’m conducting a project with Sims fans where I try and map how simmers are using the web. I’m trying to get as many simmers as I can from all over the online Sims world to complete it in order to get as full a picture as possible of the types of web activity Sims fans engage in. I’d love you to fill in the anonymous survey if you have a few free minutes.
There’ll also be a follow-up study – the survey has some more details of what this involves.
More info on the project is here.
If you can recirculate the link via your own blogs/sites/etc I’d really appreciate it.
Many thanks… if I say I’ll put up my new project
tonight when WordPress stops cutting out on me as a reward, is that an incentive?
The new cover pic on my blog is in honour of 25 years of Star Trek: The Next Generation. It probably should have been something Diamond Jubilee themed but, eh. I am still considering a K25 (25 years of Kylie in pop) one though…
And there’s something new on the way. The pictures under the cut might give you some hints…
We’re going back to The Academy for a few chapters now, beginning with 41. Stasis. I’m trying to shoot several chapters at once and will probably also have fewer pictures per chapter now in order to get this story finished quicker (with it planned to be 70 chapters, there’s still a long way to go!)
Sorry everything’s taken longer than expected; work was pretty hectic last week, my gaming computer had to go back to the repairers after they failed to fix it last time they had it, and yeah, life and stuff.
There will be updated house tours and biogs next week (along with more Dayes, I hope) – am away at the moment and relying on flaky public wifi and my netbook.
